The newly announced projects in Hatta are expected to generate hundreds of jobs and boost millions of dirhams in annual revenues, Dubai’s ruler said on Saturday.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president, prime minister and ruler of Dubai, has recently approved six new projects as part of the Hatta development plan.

One of the projects will allow residents in the area to build 200 holiday homes to support domestic tourism. The plan also includes the establishment of “Dubai Mountain Peak” and “Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls”, which will be implemented by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).

Sheikh Mohammad said the holiday homes project alone will provide an annual income of more than 100 million dirhams ($27.2 million) “for the people of the region”, while the DEWA projects will generate 500 jobs for the young residents in Hatta.

The government started developing Hatta in 2016, as part of the efforts to boost tourism. “Tourists doubled from 60,000 to one million visitors in 2020… A decent life for our citizens will remain our goal in all our projects,” the ruler said on Twitter.

The newly announced Hatta projects will also include the construction of cable cars, a world-class hotel and hiking trails to Jebel Umm Al Nisour, Dubai’s highest peak.
