MUSCAT: Continuing with its transformation journey, Sultanate’s pre-eminent destination for shopping, dining and luxury experience Oman Avenues Mall is on track to welcome the Swedish furniture giant IKEA to the country.

The construction of one of the largest IKEA stores in the Middle East is going as per plan and is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2022 at the most preferred lifestyle destination in Oman. With the four-phase transformation plan afoot, Oman Avenues Mall is already offering an incredibly exhilarating ambience and opportunity for customers to ‘Celebrate Everyday’.

Driving positive changes to host IKEA, new parking spaces are being created to help cope with additional footfalls. While the basement parking is all set to open after a major revamp allowing for larger capacity parking, an additional parking in the basement is under development. Information about parking is being made available through innovative directional signages installed, making it easy for visitors to identify available parking.

In addition to the parking work progress, key handover milestones have been achieved as the slab for the ground floor is nearing completion.

Plans to augment the road network around the mall will make the shopping experience better. The road connections and development are being fulfilled under the wise leadership of Al Taher Group, the developers of Oman Avenues Mall.

Mr. Gogi George, General Manager, Development and & Leasing, Lulu Group International said, “We are pleased to welcome IKEA – the world’s largest home furnishing retailer – to Oman. We are excited to be partnering with an innovative brand like IKEA. The brand’s entry into Oman Avenues Mall's tenancy list is in line with mall’s strategy of being responsive to changing consumer behaviours and preferences. Oman’s leading destination will grow even larger with the opening of IKEA and will welcome a host of new lifestyle experiences. We are delighted that the mall is transforming for the good and is set to become bigger and better.”

He added, “Bringing a global furniture giant like IKEA to the people of Oman as part of Oman Avenues Mall’s overall transformation plan is a great milestone for us. It is our endeavour that visitors and tourists who visit will continue to create treasured memories at the mall and the incredible country it is located in.”

From branded apparels to fashion accessories, jewellery to personalised gifts, electronic appliances to entertainment options, multi-cuisine restaurants to cafes, Oman Avenues Mall offers an all-in-one shopping, dining and entertainment experience to locals and tourists alike.

COVID-19 protocols

In line with the guidance of Oman’s Supreme Committee, the mall has developed a comprehensive and designated set of protocols to be implemented by shoppers, retailers, employees and all parties related to the mall operations. To safeguard the health and well-being of customers, employees and other visitors, the mall has been equipped with facilities such as state-of-the-art thermal sensor cameras at multiple entry points, dedicated sanitizing crew and automated sanitizer dispensers at various locations.
