Al Ketbi: “The exhibition is the ideal opportunity to further establish Abu Dhabi’s position as a hub for digital innovation, regionally and globally” 

Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Abu Dhabi Government’s participation in GITEX Technology Week 2020, taking place until December 10th at the Dubai World Trade Centre, features the attendance of 23 government entities in addition to academic institutions and a group of the world's major technology giants at its pavilion.

During the exhibition, the Abu Dhabi Government is showcasing a range of 88 initiatives and innovative digital projects in its pavilion that aim to create a unique experience for visitors by introducing a unified platform that features all government entities.

In preparation for the event, the Department of Government Support – Abu Dhabi, DGS, represented by the Abu Dhabi Digital Authority, ADDA, the government entity that leads the digital transformation in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, conducted a preparatory online meeting with officials from the participating government entities to coordinate efforts and finalise the preparations for the five-day event, ensuring effective participation that strengthens the position of Abu Dhabi as a leader in digital transformation by enhancing cooperation and coordination between various relevant entities in the emirate.

The meeting emphasised the importance of taking into account COVID-19 precautionary measures, including social distancing and the compulsory wearing of face masks, in order to safeguard the security, safety, and health of visitors and exhibitors.

The Abu Dhabi Government’s participation comes under the supervision of the Higher Committee of Digital Government as part of its efforts to implement a governance framework across the Abu Dhabi Government and make a fundamental change in the concept of government services, moving towards a digital future. It comes in line with efforts to enable an integrated digital government based on innovation and creativity to serve all members of society in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi while strengthening partnerships between government entities and the private sector.

His Excellency Ali Rashid Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Department of Government SupportAbu Dhabi, said: “At GITEX 2020, we are updating the digital transformation process in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, its progress so far, and the efforts and plans to accelerate the process in line with the vision of the wise leadership, aimed at enhancing the quality of life and achieving the happiness of all Abu Dhabi citizens and residents. The exhibition is the ideal opportunity to cement Abu Dhabi’s position as a hub for digital innovation, both regionally and globally.”

The participation will focus on the four key pillars of “Government Services”, providing a smooth and seamless experience designed to meet the needs of customers through digital channels and service centres: “Government Solutions”, promoting cooperation and supporting joint initiatives across various governmental entities and institutions to maximize the value of the initiative’s outputs: “Data & Artificial Intelligence”, taking advantage of the safe and effective sharing of data in order to support the decision-making process and enhance government pro-activeness, and “Ecosystem Enablement”, driving socio-economic growth by accelerating integration with digital systems, applications, stakeholders, customers, and business partners. 

His Excellency Engineer Mohamed AbdelHameed Al Askar, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Digital Authority, said that the Abu Dhabi government’s participation in GITEX 2020 is a unique opportunity to shed light on achievements of Abu Dhabi government in digital transformation, saying that the event offers the Abu Dhabi Government a unique opportunity to introduce 88 of its digital initiatives in the fields of Government Services, Government Solutions, Data and Artificial Intelligence, and Ecosystem Enablement, all of which have been developed to support the digital capabilities of the Abu Dhabi Emirate and to enable, support and deliver a digital government that is proactive, personalised, collaborative and secure.

Al Askar added, “The Abu Dhabi government has always shown itself to be forward thinking and dynamic in the manner it actively supports digital innovation and adoption of the latest technologies, paving the way for an advanced digital infrastructure and enhanced human capabilities.”

With its participation at GITEX Technology Week 2020, the Abu Dhabi Government aims to enhance strategic public-private partnerships that present new opportunities for meaningful cooperation with academia and major global technology companies to support the Emirate’s digital agenda.

The pavilion of the Abu Dhabi Government will showcase the latest projects and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life in the Emirate and highlighting government entities’ important role in developing fast, effective, and proactive digital government solutions that enhance the efficiency of government performance and contribute to improving the customer experience.

During the course of GITEX Technology Week 2020, a series of events are taking place at the Abu Dhabi Government pavilion, including the launch of innovative digital projects and initiatives. There will also be the signing of several agreements and Memoranda of Understanding that strengthen strategic public-private partnerships, facilitate the digital transformation process and secure important investment opportunities for private sector companies.

The  23 participating government entities include the Department of Government Support – Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, Department of Economic Development, Department of Municipalities and Transport, Department of Education and Knowledge, Department of Health, Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, Abu Dhabi Digital Authority, Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority, Human Resources Authority, Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority, Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development, Abu Dhabi Global Market, Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, Social Care and Minors Affairs Foundation, Abu Dhabi School of Government, Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, Khalifa University, and Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre.

The pavilion will also feature a group of the world's major technology giants, including Microsoft, IBM, Dell and Intel.
