The Labour Fund “Tamkeen” – Manama, Bahrain: The Global Entrepreneurship Network, in collaboration with the Labour Fund ‘Tamkeen’, will launch the 11th Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) 2019, which will be held for the first time in the Kingdom of Bahrain at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre from April 15 – 18.

Known for its leading global dialogue on entrepreneurship, the GEC will bring together thousands of entrepreneurs, investors, researchers and economic policymakers from more than 170 countries.

The GEC’s conference will be inaugurated on Tuesday the 16th of April with an introductory session held by members of the Global Entrepreneurship Network to discuss sustainable development through entrepreneurship and strategic growth partnerships.

Over the years, GEC has been considered one of the largest entrepreneurial conferences in the world, hosted in many countries including the United States, United Kingdom, China,Italy, Brazil, Russia and the UAE. This year, the decision to choose Bahrain as the host of the GEC 2019 stems from the Kingdom’s strong economic position as well as its role as a global hub for entrepreneurs.

The GEC will provide an opportunity to address the latest developments and insights in the entrepreneurial sector and will support company founders to scale and start new ventures, using international best practices. The event will further advance efforts in building a sustainable economy by assisting entrepreneurs and emerging institutions with guidance on new ways to nurture start-up companies and strengthen market preference.

As part of the GEC’s objectives, GEC will also explore various opportunities to utilize the potential of young entrepreneurs in supporting sustainable economic goals by creating channels of communication between entrepreneurs and investors within a wide network of international expertise.

Commenting on the upcoming event, Tamkeen's Chief Executive, said: “The main objective of hosting GEC 2019, which is being organized by one of the leading international networks in the field of entrepreneurship, is not only to discuss the most important challenges of this growing sector but to explore what the sector can offer to young entrepreneurs in terms of creativity, growth and development. The world today has witnessed ground-breaking entrepreneurial success stories that have significantly contributed in reshaping the world’s economy. We believe that the most important characteristic of entrepreneurship is the incentive to adopt and foster innovative ideas stemming from a sustainable vision for the diversification of economic resources. GEC today represents a global platform that tackles all aspects of economic development locally, regionally and internationally.”

A delegation of international experts and economists will attend the event, alongside Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) representatives from more than 170 countries, including Bahrain.
