RIYADH – There is no plan to increase water tariff and water bills will be issued free of mistakes while customers will be given choice to pay their accumulated bills in installments, said Khaled Al-Musaibeeh, spokesman of the National Water Company.

“We’ll solve the issue of accumulated bills within two months,” he said while speaking to Al-Eqtisadiah business daily. “Customers will be given the choice to pay their bills and settle their debts and pay the outstanding bills in installment after paying part of the debt,” he added.

Al-Musaibeeh said a foolproof system has been introduced to issue bills without mistakes. “We have introduced several measures to improve the billing system,” he added. He denied reports that water tariffs would be increased. “There will be no increase in water tariff. No change has been made in water tariff since the issuance of a royal decree last year,” he pointed out. The Council of Ministers approved the latest water tariff in December 2015.

In a statement issued in January 2016, NWC informed its customers in Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah and Taif to update their information to receive its services. Customers will be able to check their bills through NWC’s electronic offices that operate around the clock.

The company said it was ready to carry out maintenance works on their water networks to deal with leaks. “We have started issuing bills continuously after improving the billing system and reducing mistakes as far as possible,” an NWC official said.

The company urged its customers to visit its website or office to know about its services and billing system. “We’ll issue bills to customers who have complained about bills only after correcting them. At the same time, it will continue to record readings on their meters,” Al-Musaibeeh said.

The company considers its customers as its partners. “We give top priority to our partners,” Al-Musaibeeh said. The company said the bills are issued on the basis of water consumed by customers. Customers’ debts have been separated from new bills and are allowed to clear debts on the basis of an installment system following certain rules and regulations.

Customers will be able to see their bills by visiting the company’s website or its electronic service offices.
