Highlights the Chamber's activities during the Federation of GCC Chambers international relations workshop at Bahrain Chamber

Dubai, UAE: The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry shared its expertise in international relations with GCC Chambers during the consultative meeting held recently at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry to exchange experiences and knowledge of their respective international relations departments.

With its objective of strengthening the role of GCC Chambers in the Arab, regional and global forums, the meeting emphasised on exchanging ideas and experiences while promoting cooperation between the GCC Chambers.

The meeting was attended by H.E. Abdulrahim Hasan Naqi, Secretary General, Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FGCC Chambers), Engr. Nabeel Al Mahmood, CEO, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and representatives from the Federation of GCC Chambers, The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf - Secretariat General, Dubai, Bahrain, Kuwait, Amman, Qatar Chambers and the Council of Saudi Chambers.

During the meeting, Omar Khan, Director, International Offices, Dubai Chamber, highlighted the prominent role played by the Chamber's International Relations department stating that last year Dubai Chamber participated in 66 overseas events in 38 cities in 30 countries while it received 673 delegations from 69 countries thus stimulating the private sector's growth in the emirate.

Khan also informed that Dubai Chamber's five international offices in Baku, Erbil, Accra, Addis Ababa and Maputo organised 414 meetings with companies looking to enter the Dubai market or those seeking access to the surrounding markets that these offices operate from as last year these offices organised 18 different events for promoting Dubai's business environment in their respective markets.

The Dubai Chamber Director of International Offices further stressed that the Chamber also organises and participates in trade missions as it was part of the UAE Pavilion at the Milan Expo 2015 held in Italy and last month hosted the 10th World Retail Congress as part of its efforts to promote the competitiveness of the emirate's business community as well as the benefits of establishing business in Dubai.

He also gave a presentation on Dubai's diverse economy and its growth prospects by highlighting the leading pillars of the emirate's economy including trade, tourism, logistics and financial services besides the multiple value-added services provided by Dubai Chamber to the emirate's business community.
