Dubai, UAE - Emirates Gas (EMGAS), a subsidiary of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), launched its first mini Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) daughter station at Emirates Driving Institute (EDI) in Al Qusais, Dubai.

The facility has a storage capacity of 1,500 cubic metres, capable of refilling approximately 200 Natural Gas Vehicles (NGV) per day. Located within EDI's premises, this dedicated CNG station will provide a continuous fuel supply to their fleet of 150 CNG vehicles.

H.E. Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO of ENOC, said: "Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the government has already laid out a blueprint for sustainable development. This future will only be achieved if we, as citizens and residents of this country, make incremental choices that are better for the environment.

"The decision to switch to a vehicle that uses CNG - a fuel that causes far less emissions and is therefore better for the environment - is one such example of how we can change our behaviour to help achieve the government's vision."

Last week, the company launched the first CNG Daughter Station in Dubai, a 5200 cubic metre facility with Emirates Transport, also situated in Al Qusais.

"Our strategy is to introduce exceptional products and services that not only fulfil customer demand, but also further the values associated with sustainability," said Zaid Alqufaidi, Managing Director, ENOC Marketing.

Mr. Amer Ahmed Belhasa, Managing Director, Emirates Driving Institute said "Conversion of our training vehicles into NGVs reaffirms EDI's commitment towards reducing carbon footprint and is a step towards creating a greener future. The environmentally clean CNG is not only the cleanest burning fuel operating today but also provides other benefits such as less vehicle maintenance and a longer engine life. At EDI, we are always on a mission to create world-class infrastructure with best quality facilities which are not only high on efficiency but also environmental friendly"

In addition to refuelling services, EMGAS' CNG stations are also equipped to convert petrol vehicles to CNG.

"Like our ENOC/EPPCO service stations, our CNG facilities will provide ENOC consumers with wide-ranging services for their vehicles," said Nader Al Fardan, General Manager of EMGAS. "Through our 360 degree services, we hope to support the continuing energy needs of Dubai."

EMGAS also owns and operates a CNG mobile filling unit which tours customer premises to distribute CNG according to their requirement. The advanced and fully-certified CNG mobile filling unit of EMGAS is equipped with 4,869 litres on-board CNG storage, compressor and electronic dispenser.

Credited with launching CNG in Dubai, EMGAS is the largest supplier of LPG in the UAE, and the market leader in supplying a variety of LPG products and propane used in industrial, commercial establishments and residential areas.
