Johnson Controls International (JCI): "Empowerscaled new heights and set new standards in district cooling"

Dubai, UAE - HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, received a senior delegation from Johnson Controls International (JCI) to discuss the company's requirements of district cooling as far as machinery and equipments are concerned. Both companies reviewed the results of their technology-collaboration in the district cooling industry. The two companies also agreed to strengthen their efforts in technology-research to enhance efficiency and sustainability.

Mr. Santiago Perez, VP &GM for Europe,Middle East&Africa &Latin America at Johnson Controls, handed out a Chiller Mode model to HE Bin Shafar in appreciation of Empower's efforts in scaling new heights and setting new standards in district cooling as part of its journey of becoming the world's largest district cooling services provider in terms of capacity.

"The meeting with Johnson Controls was aimedto discuss ways to expand cooperation. Empower's vision about technological advancements in district cooling sector goes in line with that of Johnson Controls," said Bin Shafar.

The Gulf region is eligible to play a leading role in this industry, due to the demand of cooling all year round. Bin Shafar said that Empower's spending in research contributes in enhancing its smart transformation move and sustainability drive.

Both companies discussedthe new global trends in district cooling industry, best practices for industry's growth and latest technologies and innovations achieved.

"We highlighted to the visiting company the drive of the UAE to adopt best worldwide practices as far as environmental sustainability is concerned," Bin Shafar added.

Relevantly, Empower strives to enhance its operations and minimise the environmental impact of its operations through increasing the efficiency of its plants and decreasing the use of fresh water in the cooling industry. The company's efforts are widely recognized by global energy sector.

Johnson Controls works on developing innovative cooling technologies that are efficient and conserves water use. The company keeps abreast of the latest achievements in the district cooling industry.

Bin Shafar confirmed to the US company that Empower allocates its resources and expertise to achieve best results locally and globally. He said that Empower focuses on the integrated relationship between energy and water in an effort to conserve the natural resources of the UAE.

Empower currently operates more than 1 million 100 thousands RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, among others.
