Parsons is pleased to announce the appointment of James R. "Jim" Shappell as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Saudi Arabian Parsons Ltd. (SAPL) and Saudi Arabia Country Manager.

During his 40-year tenure with Parsons, Mr. Shappell has held positions of increasing responsibility in executive management and business development. Most recently, he served as Group Executive--Development. In this role, Mr. Shappell established business development policy, procedures, and systems and assisted in building business development talent and external strategic relationships across Parsons' global platform. In addition, he was the corporate sponsor for the strategic relationship management program, including coordinating engagement on strategic pursuits and with strategic customers and partners and managing multibusiness-unit pursuits.

Mr. Shappell's expertise includes leading Parsons into public-private partnerships more than a decade ago, leading Parsons' global strategy and development organization, and representing Parsons on the construction industry roundtable. He is well known for his expertise in business development and company leadership on a global basis and in a diverse group of industry segments. In addition, Mr. Shappell has worked closely with political leaders, as well as executive branch officials, legislators, and other high-ranking officials in the United States and globally. His recognized expertise covers a litany of complex subject areas, including energy, transportation, and defense issues. Mr. Shappell holds a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University. He will be based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
