UAE - A 'Wellbeing Census' for professionals working in all private schools across Dubai is being launched by the knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in October.

There are about 18,000 employees working across 206 private schools. This the first wellbeing census that aims to focus on adults - a census on students from grade to six to nine has already been running since 2017 and now it has been expanded up to grade 12 pupils. The census for both students and adults will run for the next five years.

KHDA's director-general Dr Abdulla Al Karam announced the launch of the adult wellbeing census during the second day of the International and Private Schools Education Forum (IPSEF) on September 22.

"I think when we did the census for students last year, the question 'why not us, also?' came to us," Al Karam told Khaleej Times. "It's the fact that these are the professionals that look after the kids, so, it's important to include them in the census."

In the 2017 wellbeing census, 65,000 students in grades six to nine across Dubai private schools took part. The results showed that 84 per cent of students reported as 'being happy'.

However, Al Karam has said the census isn't just about measuring how happy the professionals and pupils are. A full report is given to each school after the results of each census to help improve the wellbeing of each individual.
