DUBAI- Dubai Science Park, DSP, has announced that it is leveraging its new built-to-suit model to construct a new Global Research Centre for Himalaya Drug Company, a producer of over 300 cosmetics, nutritional supplements, herbal medicines and pharmaceutical-grade Ayurvedic products in over 90 countries.

The centre is due to open in 2021.

The Himalaya Global Research Centre has been part of DSP’s Laboratory Complex since 2013, with product development, quality control and standardisation serving as priority areas of focus for the new facility.

Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, Managing Director of DSP and Chairing Member of the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Equipment Taskforce of the Dubai Industrial Strategy 2030, said, "Over the last decade, the UAE and India have continued to strengthen their long-standing ties, evidenced by the significant number of Indian firms based in Dubai. Our robust infrastructure and business-friendly environment are among the key factors that encourage these companies to establish their Middle East head offices in the UAE." The move will result in the creation of over 100 specialised jobs.

In turn, Meraj Manal, Chairman of Himalaya Global Holdings, stated, "We aim to establish Himalaya as a science-based, problem solving, head to heel brand, not only within Dubai but within the wider GCC region and surrounding international markets. Himalaya invests in markets with an in-depth and long-term approach, maintaining high ethical standards at each step of the way. The UAE is positioned as a perfect place for us to initiate this expansion."
