ABU DHABI, 2nd July, 2017 (WAM) -- Sharjah Charity House has offered AED1 million to enable UAE doctors to provide the finest diagnostic, treatment and preventive services to underprivileged individuals globally, regardless of their race, creed or ethnicity, in line with the declaration of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for 2017 to be the #Year of Giving.

Sultan Al Khayal, Secretary-General of Sharjah Charity House, said that UAE doctors have presented an exceptional model of volunteer and humanitarian work through their mobile hospitals and clinics, which treated over 5.5 million children and elderly patients in different countries around the world, as a message of love, loyalty and giving.

He added that the UAEs wise leadership is keen to promote volunteerism and humanitarian aid and is seeking to provide all types of support and empowerment for institutions working in this sector. He also highlighted their contribution in promoting the culture of volunteer work in the UAE community.

he participation of Sharjah Charity House by supporting UAE doctors, is one of its many values that are supported by the wise leadership, while adding that the organisation aims to promote and strengthen the values of volunteer among different segments of the community, Al Khayal continued, adding that the organisation seeks to support and diversify its social and humanitarian services, to provide treatment for vulnerable people and benefit from the many talents in the UAE.

Dr. Adel Al Shameri, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative, Chairman of the Emirates Programme for Community and Specialised Volunteering and Emirates Doctors President, said that UAE youth have performed some 5 million hours of volunteering, including 1 million hours of volunteering in the Zayed Giving Initiatives international volunteering and humanitarian activities, which help reduce the suffering of vulnerable individuals. The initiative has also given hope to people in need through the Zayed Giving convoys and their treatment programmes, he concluded.
