Mubasher: Qatar Airways on Monday announced that it will be the world’s first airline launching GlobalBeacon technology.

The product from Aireon and FlightAware provides customers with the most effective cost, in addition to providing the Qatari airline with global, real-time flight tracking, according to an official statement.

“As one of the leading airlines in the world, our goal is to consistently deliver the best service to all our customers,” it added.

In September 2016, the Qatari carrier revealed that it would be the first airline to adopt this innovative technology that would feed directly into its Integrated Operations Centre.

“We are thrilled to be the first airline in the world with a wide network to use space-based ADS-B technology, and we are honoured to collaborate with both FlightAware and Aireon on the development of this solution to achieve the highest level of flight tracking standards that exceed GADSS requirements and recommendations,” Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, said.

However, if an aircraft should become in distress, position reports are then to be provided every minute, and the new product will provide a permanent minute-by-minute reporting capability, far exceeding the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) recommendations.

It is worth noting that Qatar Airways is one of the world’s fastest-growing airlines with a modern fleet of more than 200 aircraft.
