Veolia signs deal to build Egypt water systems

France-based Veolia, a global leader in optimized resource management t, has been awarded a contract by Egyptian Electricity Holding Company to construct and set up water and wastewater treatment plants for Assiut Supercritical Power Plant and Cairo West Power Plant.

The water and wastewater treatment needs are being met through Veolia subsidiary Veolia Water Technologies.

State-owned Egyptian Electricity Holding Company chose Veolia Water Technologies due to its extensive experience in the power generation market both in Egypt and across the wider Middle East region, and for its technical expertise in the process and design of wastewater treatment systems for supercritical power plants.

Veolia Water Technologies (VWT) is well suited to design, build, and deliver integrated systems to treat water and wastewater, a company statement said.

VWT Egypt have around 200 employees, mainly engineers and technicians able to implement the Veolia worldwide technologies to the local market Possessing industry-leading technologies and bringing global best practice and expertise, it will enable Assiut Supercritical Power Plant and Cairo West Power Plant to operate at maximum capacity while serving its boiler feed’s high demand for extra-pure demineralized water.

Veolia Water Technologies was one of the earliest companies in the region to introduce continuous electro-deionization (CEDI) system to the Egyptian power market, which lessens chemical consumption and eliminates chemically contaminated wastewater.

Delivering a high return on experience from the South Helwan Power Plant, the French-owned company provides a variety of best-in-class solutions, including ultra filtration, electro-deionization, industrial wastewater treatment, and potable water systems, the statement added. – TradeArabia News Service
