Jeddah signs $300mln contract to raise standard of environmental services

20 contracts for services projects meant to raise the operational efficiency of the environmental sector in Jeddah

JEDDAH – Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Water Company (NWC) Engineer Abdulrahman Bin Abdulmuhsin Al-Fadli signed on Sunday a number of contracts for services projects worth SR1.1 billion, Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.

Director General of Water in Makkah Province Engineer Muhammad Bin Saleh Al-Ghamdi said the total number of projects is 20. They will benefit about one million people.

Over 16,000 sanitary drainage connections to homes will be carried out. The project sites will be handed over immediately to contractors to begin work. The project periods range between 18 and 24 months.

The projects for sanitary drainage connections to homes will cover several districts of Jeddah including Al-Muntazahat, Umm Al-Salam, Al-Naseem (1,2 and 3), Bani Malik (1, 2, 3 and 4), Al-Wurood (1,2 and 3), Al-Faiha (1,2,3 and 4), Al-Thagher 4, Al-Jamea 3, Al-Azizia (9 and 11), Al-Andalus, Al-Rawda, Al-Rehab, Mushrefa, Al-Hamra, Al-Ruwais, Al-Khaldia and Al-Safa, among others. – SPA
