Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC), the principal offtaker for water and wastewater projects in Saudi Arabia, announced on Wednesday the preferred bidders for three wastewater public-private partnership (PPP) projects.

In statements posted on its website, SWPC said the consortium of Acciona Agua, International Water Distribution Company (Tawzea) and Tamasuk Company has been selected as the preferred bidder for Madinah 3, Buraydah 2 and Tabuk 2 Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP) projects.

In April, Zawya Projects has reported that SWPC has received bids from four consortiums for Madinah 3 ISTP, while three consortiums had bid for Buraidah-2 and Tabuk-2 ISTPs.

For Madinah 3 ISTP, located in Madinah Munawara city, the preffered bidder consortium of Acciona Agua-Tawzea-Tamasuk had submitted levelised cost tariff of 1.2157 Saudi riyal/m3 while Aqualia – Alfanar – Al Khorayef consortium, which was named as the reserve bidder, submitted a tariff of 1.5993 riyals/m3.

Madinah 3 ISTP will have a capacity of 200,000 m3/day (expandable to 375,000 m3/day).

For Buraydah 2 and Tabuk 2 ISTPs, consortium of Acciona Agua-Tawzea-Tamasuk had submitted levelised cost tariff of 1.4395 riyal/m3, while reserve bidder Aqualia – Alfanar – Al Khorayef had submitted a tariff of 1.7078 riyals/m3.

Buraydah 2 and Tabuk 2 will have capacities of 150,000 m3/day and 90,000 m3/day respectively.

In separate statements filed with the Saudi stock exchange on Thursday, Saudi Industrial Services Company (SISCO) and Saudi Arabian Amiantit Company announced that a consortium, which included their co-owned joint venture company Tawzea, was appointed as the preferred bidder for three ISTP projects by the SWPC. Tawzea and Acciona Agua own 35 percent each of the consortium with Tamasuk holding the remaining 30 percent, the statements said.
