Oman Power & Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has received technical submissions for the second phase of the country's solar programme under the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, a source aware of the project details told Zawya Projects.

The second phase comprises Manah Solar I and Manah Solar 2 solar photovoltaic (PV) IPPs, with each scheme having a generation capacity between 500 to 600 megawatts.

"OPWP received the bids on 24 January 2021. This will be followed by the submission of the combined technical and commercial proposal on 16 March 2021. It is understood firms have to participate in the initial technical submissions to bid for the contract," the source told Zawya Projects.

He said the tender was issued in July 2020 with a bid submission date of 7 December 2020, which was extended to 16 March 2021.

Synergy Consulting has been appointed as the financial advisor, DLA Piper as legal advisor, and Fichtner Consulting as Front-End Engineering Design consultant, a second source told Zawya Projects, adding that the project is expected to start commercial operations in December 2024.
