OPEC member Kuwait intends to issue tenders for international companies to provide consultancy services for its oil projects, a local newspaper said on Sunday.

The state-owned Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) will soon invite such bids from foreign firms for such services, the Arabic language daily Alanba said.

It quoted oil sources in the Gulf country as saying KOC has decided to seek consultancy services from experienced foreign firms to execute large projects.

"The decision follows drastic changes in the oil industry and new technologies in this field that require help from experienced companies," the paper said.

The contract involves providing engineering designs and services, as well as managing large projects undertaken by KOC, it added.
