State-owned Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has pre-qualified five key firms to bid for a contract involving providing designs and management services for KOC's major projects, a local newspaper revealed on Tuesday.

The companies comprise UK-based Amec Foster Wheeler and Worley Europe, Technip of France, and from the US, Fluor and Kellogg Brown & Root, the Arabic language daily Alanba said, citing official sources.

The contract is intended to help KOC in preparing designs for its projects and includes providing consultancy services as well as management of all projects which KOC is planning to execute in Kuwait in the next five years, the report said.

KOC will issue the tender for the contract within a month and it also aims to "achieve a balance in the Company's large projects and financial allocations," it added.

"As per the contract, engineering and designs services must be undertaken at the foreign company's office in its home country while consultancy services will be carried out at KOC's headquarters in Al-Ahmadi."
