KUWAIT CITY - Assistant Undersecretary for Power Network Distribution at the Ministry of Electricity and Water Eng Metleq Al-Utaibi has disclosed that the ministry floated two tenders for upgrading power networks in Al-Shaqaya and Salmi, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Al-Utaibi affirmed the importance of these two tenders in the implementation of several vital projects in the western area including poultry farms, car scrapyard, Sabah Al-Ahmad Heritage Village, land borders and security checkpoints.

He added the area has been suffering due to low power and frequent power disruption, indicating the ministry conducted a study which concluded that wooden posts and copper wires must be replaced with iron posts and aluminum wires to avoid collapse of wooden posts due to strong winds and the stealing of copper wires.

He said the new posts will be coated with reflectors for motorists to see them and avoid hitting them whenever it is foggy
