Abu Dhabi: - The Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED), in coordination and cooperation with Dubai SME, showcased 10 innovative Emirati projects at the Small and Medium Enterprises Exhibition (SME Expo) organized by the National Program for Small and Medium Enterprises and Projects. Took place at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, the expo was held under the patronage of H.E. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of Small and Medium Enterprises Council.

Mouza Al Nasri, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Khalifa Fund, said: “Our participation in SME Expo 2019 is in line with our strategy to support SMEs, foster a culture of entrepreneurship in the society, and provide an incubator environment for entrepreneurs and startup owners.”  

“This year, we showcase five successful projects done by our nationals and supported by the Fund. These projects cover different sectors, including education, ICT, electronic protection services, advertising, and many more. The expo offers them an opportunity to listen to the views and opinions of experts in entrepreneurship. After 12 years, we at KFED are proud of our continuous achievements that have been the result of hard work and dedication to instill the spirit of entrepreneurship in the UAE. We will continue to encourage our citizens to become self-employed in line with the vision of our wise leaders to make our youth an active contributor to our society, diversify our economy and promote innovation across our nation,” Al Nasri added.

Abdul Baset Al Janahi, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai SME, stated: “Participating in SME Expo in partnership with Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development is in line with our commitment to cooperate with various government entities at the local and federal levels and promote pioneering projects. We continue to support the Emirati youth through our range of services that will help them take advantage of new opportunities that contribute to sustainable development.”

Al Janahi added: “Our presence at SME Expo is testament to our support to entrepreneurs in order to enhance their knowledge and experience, as well as help them expand their customer base through new channels of communication and outreach. In addition, Dubai SME also puts priority in participating to important events and platforms that add value to members and boost SMEs’ role in driving economic growth and contribute to Dubai’s GDP and the UAE."

The KFED’s participation at this year’s SME Expo featured 5 projected owned by Emirati entrepreneurs who have harnessed modern technologies to serve public interest and provide creative ideas to the local communities.

One of them is a project done by Marwa Al Mansoori, who created an innovative app for the aesthetic and medical cosmetology industry called ‘Malena App’. It is touted as the first online destination for people who are looking for aesthetic services and trusted plastic surgeons. This app connects customers and medical service providers in a transparent and well-managed platform. It seeks to build customer confidence by providing them the best possible services in the industry. Customers can book their appointments via the app, which creates a safe environment that supports the local medical tourism sector. The app provides all necessary information to its users, while allowing service providers to market their offerings around the world.

Another KFED-supported project, Tarkeeb, is a telecommunications company. In corporation with its strategic partners and through its strong infrastructure and renewable resources, the project aims to provide cabling, systems integration and maintenance services across the UAE.

The ‘Tip top’ project owned by Fatima Al Mansoori is a full-service advertising and events solutions company that offer a range of services, including event management, advertising, social media marketing, graphic design, 3D design, and event furniture rental.

The ‘Montessori Children's Garden Nursery’ was founded by Marwa Al Qubaisi and inspired by Dr. Maria Montessori, the Italian educator, philosopher, and volunteer who has given her life to develop a clear learning philosophy that puts a child’s welfare at the center of her concerns and key goals.

‘Cyber Gate’ developed by Mohamed Al Harsoosi is a solution provider for a full range of computer security services, including problem identification, protection, detection, response, and treatment. The company aims to provide electronic space security services to protect and secure the full electronic transactions of customers.

Moreover, Dubai SME’s participation at SME Expo 2019 featured several leading local businesses from various sectors. One of them is ‘Dr. Deena Al Qedrah Medical Center’, established by Dr. Deena, the first medical centre of its kind that conducts blood vessel surgery using the latest medical devices. Dr. Deena is the only doctor in the UAE competent in this field with more than 20 years of experience. Her vision is to provide the best medical services to patients with the highest medical standards.

Meanwhile, Barrel Energy, a leading fuel transportation and distribution company in Dubai, is the project of Mohamed Ahmed Belhoul. The company provides petroleum products distribution, logistics transport and emergency response services to the transport sector such as industrial trucking, contracting, shipping, energy, chemicals, communications and government services of any size or complexity anywhere in the UAE.

‘Interlace Technologies’, owned by Youssef Abdullah Ahmed, is the third project supported by Dubai SME. It is specialized in providing smart and sustainable engineering services as well as alternative energy solutions that offer quick return on investments. They also provide heaters that use thermal energy which reduces electricity consumption by 85 per cent. These heaters are certified by leading international organizations, as well as by the Dubai Municipality.

Dubai SME also showcased ‘Hayat Institute’, another SME project founded by Marwan Ali. The company provides training courses and consultancy on health and food security, as well as first aid and medical training for specialists. The courses are internationally recognized by international bodies such as the American Heart Association, Highfield International and the American Safety and Health Institute.

Finally, the ‘GRG Business Center’ owned by Fatima Ali Al Hammoudi offers a variety of services including fully-furnished offices and large VIP offices. The company helps start-ups secure license and facilitate administrative services, such as clearing transactions. It also organizes meetings and seminars presented by skilled professionals who can address audiences in different languages.

The SME Expo is held annually in Abu Dhabi to cater to the needs of the SMEs. The event is a unique opportunity to enhance trade relations and showcase products, thus opening up new opportunities for SMEs to become more competitive. During the exhibition, the participants also had a chance to promote and introduce their products and services, capitalize on the event’s popularity, and form new partnerships.
