Muscat: Jotun Paints, the leading global supplier of paints and powder coatings, recently hosted a seminar in Salalah to educate customers, consultants and contractors in the region about its proprietary Single Source Solution concept. During the event, Jotun Paints highlighted the importance of paints and coatings to the contribution of meeting green building standards, especially with Jotun Paints Green Building Solutions.

The seminar was held at Crown Plaza Salalah and was overseen by Mr.Erik Danielsen, Sales & Marketing Manager,Jotun Paints Co.,LLC Oman. The event saw the attendance of over 140 people from Specifiers,Architects,Client,Various Ministries and Contractors. Also in attendance were several senior members of management and staff from Jotun Oman.

Commenting on the seminar and the importance of green solutions, Mr.Hafeez Sidhique,Concept Manager-Techinical Sales support Decorative Segment of Jotun Paints said, “Climate change is a reality and reducing CO2 emissions is imperative if there is going to be any lasting impact on this planet. Buildings alone contribute 39% of the global CO2 emissions, and that is why it is encouraging to see the construction industry and the Green Buildings movements making a commitment to reduce the negative effects by implementing GREEN Concepts. As a core contributor to the construction industry in the region, we remain committed to providing solutions that encourage our clients to embrace the Green Buildings movement and actively implement Green building standards.”

Jotun is fully committed to helping its stakeholders make headway in the Green Buildings movement. The company realised that there were industry challenges to select the most suitable solutions for green projects and set out to help specifiers, quickly and efficiently. Green Building Solutions (GBS) provide a single global source for customers looking for an easy way to increase points for green building standards including Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and BREEAM.

“It is very straightforward and quick – exactly what the fast-paced and data driven construction industry needs. All the information can be found in one place using our Green Building Solutions Guide. While paints and coatings contribute to only 0.5-2% of a project’s cost, they can help attain up to 17.5% of LEED v4 points now and 27% in the future!” said Hafeez Sidhique. “The seminar served as the perfect avenue through which we could showcase our Green Building Solutions to our stakeholders, together with the environmental benefits of our products as a whole.”

The majority of the products within Jotun’s GBS have an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), a globally recognised standard for quantifying the environmental impact of materials used in a project. An EPD includes information on the raw material extraction and transportation, efficiency of manufacturing process, composition of chemical substances used, emissions, waste generation and much more. All Jotun product EPDs are third party verified to provide quality assurance to the data. Product-specific type III EPDs generated for Jotun’s products are the most efficient ones, helping green building specifiers select solutions best suited to their project goals while contributing to LEED v4 points.

“The large turnout and positive feedback we received from all attendees was very encouraging. On behalf of the management of Jotun I would like to express my gratitude to all attendees as well as everyone involved in its execution for making the event such a success. We look forward to organising many more similar seminars and events in the future,” concluded Erik Danielsen
