DUBAI – Expo 2020 Dubai has launched the perfect uplifting holiday read, with the publication of the third, and final, edition of Children’s Tales From Around The World, a collection of 68 traditional children’s stories and folktales from countries spanning six continents.

The digital anthology celebrates diversity and inclusion and reflects Expo’s commitment to ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’. It brings together poignant stories and colourful illustrations contributed by schoolchildren, professional artists and storytellers, as well as eminent cultural voices from every part of the globe.

Danielle Green, Senior Manager, Products, Director General Office, Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “We all need an inspiring escape this holiday season, no matter where we are spending it. And what better way than to delve into a one-of-a-kind collection of meaningful and entertaining tales that unites children across continents in a shared experience of reading and cultural exploration.

“This final edition is a truly collective endeavour that brings together talented storytellers and artists – young and old – from all corners of the planet.”

Boasting 25 new stories across two additional chapters, the updated collection has grown from its first edition, which launched in September 2020 with 24 stories, and has sparked a range of related initiatives around the world, from children’s drawing sessions to a Portuguese-language version of one of the tales and activities celebrating different cultures and tolerance through literature in schools.

Expo 2020 will run from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, inviting visitors from around the globe to join the making of a new world, experiencing a six-month celebration of creativity, innovation, human progress and culture.

About World Expos

In 1851 the Crystal Palace was the centrepiece of London’s Great Exhibition – the first World Expo. It celebrated the man-made industrial wonders of a rapidly changing world. Architecture, contents and a theme, ‘Industry of All Nations’, were combined to create a big idea of nations meeting nations in shared technological and commercial progress. In more recent years, participants in World Expos, including governments, international organisations and companies, have gathered to find solutions to universal challenges and to promote their achievements, products, ideas, innovations, their national brand, and their nations as destinations for tourism, trade and investment.

World Expos are held under the auspices of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the intergovernmental organisation responsible for overseeing and regulating international exhibitions (‘Expos’) and for fostering their core values of Education, Innovation and Cooperation. Today, four types of Expos are organised under the BIE’s auspices: World Expos, Specialised Expos, Horticultural Expos and the Triennale di Milano.
