Egypt’s El Sewedy Electric has announced that its transmission and distribution unit has signed a contract in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to build a $38.6 million substation.

El Sewedy Electric for Transmission & Distribution of Energy, listed on the Egyptian exchange, signed the contract on August 6 with the Societe Nationale d’Electricite (SNEL) to build a high voltage distribution substation in the city of Kasumbalesa, province of Haut – Katanga.

According to its website, El Sewedy Electric operates in eight diversified energy segments: cables & accessories, electrical products, energy measurement & management, transformers, communications, wind energy generation, solar energy solutions, projects & development.

The project should be completed with 18 months from the project commencement date, a statement from the company said.
