Cairo :- Emirates NBD Egypt announced today the appointment of international banking expert, Mohamed Berro, as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Member of Emirates NBD Group’s Executive Committee.

Mr. Hesham Al Qassim, Emirates NBD Egypt’s Chairman, commented on Berro’s appointment, saying, “With his extensive experience in the banking sector, Mohamed Berro’s appointment is yet another step in the right direction for Emirates NBD Egypt. Berro’s leadership style and stellar track record combine to give him an edge in identifying and meeting the Egyptian banking sector’s growth factors and the diverse needs of its customers. I am confident that his appointment assures the banks strategic objectives will continue to be fully met and surpassed.”

Mohamed Berro comes to Emirates NBD Egypt armed with a lengthy and versatile track record in the Middle East and GCC banking sector. Prior to joining Emirates NBD Egypt, Berro served for six years as CEO of Abu Dhabi based Al Hilal Islamic Bank since its establishment in 2008, where his strategic leadership style contributed heavily to its steady growth until his departure in 2015.

In 2003, Berro joined Arab Bank in Amman, Jordan as Global Head of Personal Banking Group, achieving back to back successes, including rebranding the bank’s retail banking division and instituting a new global scale, bank-wide corporate culture.

Prior to that, Berro served as Head of Retail Banking at Credit Agricole Egypt, a position he moved to from National Bank of Kuwait, where he was Head of Retail Banking for Lebanon, as well as various roles during his previous time at Arthur Andersen in the US and Kuwait. 

Mohamed holds a Masters Degree and B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of North Texas, USA.
