Manama - Bahrain yesterday pledged to implement Value Added Tax (VAT) this year, in compliance with a GCC commitment. It is also in line with decisions of the GCC leaders as well as the unified agreement in this regard.

“The government will take the necessary measures in co-operation with the legislative authority to enforce VAT levy,” the Finance Ministry said in a statement.

Required logistic and technical preparations would be undertaken to ensure the private sector and trade companies are ready for the tax, it added.
