DUBAI  - Bahrain expects to produce 200,000 barrels per day from its newly discovered oilfield, the daily Al Ayam reported on Wednesday.

The newspaper said the head of the financial and economic committee in Bahrain's parliament, Abdulrahman Bu Ali, gave the estimate of production from the tight oil and deep gas resource after a meeting with Bahrain's Minister of Oil, Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa.

Bu Ali also said the gas from the field would be enough to fulfil local demand.

Bahrain said on Sunday it had discovered the country's largest oilfield in decades, located off the west coast of the kingdom.
