Singapore: Asia Insurance Review and Middle East Insurance Review have joined a pre-eminent global risk and insurance media and publishing house, Beacon International Group, Ltd, a US-based enterprise that is expanding dramatically to serve risk management, risk transfer and risk financing leaders across the world, with a deep concentration in insurance, reinsurance, and all related fields in the sector.

As Asia Insurance Review celebrates its highly successful 30 years in the business, the Company combines with Beacon’s 51-year-old US leader, Business Insurance and its iconic 131-year-old New York-based Insurance Advocate, to create one part of an enhanced media group. Beacon is currently in contract to purchase two additional media in the UK and in the US.

Beacon will draw on the market leadership positions of Asia Insurance Review (AIR) and its increasingly popular Middle East Insurance Review (MEIR) to provide professionals in the field the highest level of timely, useful and well-curated information and news, on the global and local levels, according to Mr Steve Acunto, president and founder of the Greenwich, Connecticut-headquartered Group, who noted that: “Combined, the group will present more than 80 events per year and serve an estimated 350,000 readers and better than 250,000 additional followers and users in the insurance and closely related sectors.

“The excellence of Sivam Subramaniam’s work, together with Sheela Suppiah and the leadership of AIR and MEIR, the evident potential for the delivery of news, highly useful information and the top insurance events in Asia along with the expanding sets of resources provided to AIR’s and MEIR’s audiences commended this acquisition from the very first and presented immediate potential synergies. We plan to bolster and consolidate strengths across all of our media to brighten the vitality and outlook of the business worldwide.”

Mr Sivam Subramaniam, editor-in-chief of Asia Insurance Review said, “The world of insurance and risk is an increasingly globalized one, which makes this the perfect time for us to join forces with our peers in other markets to consolidate our leadership position and to continue to serve readers and advertisers alike. AIR, which enjoyed a privileged position as the publishing arm of Singapore Reinsurance Corporation, is now taking that leap to be fully independent in the publishing world but still focussed on serving the information needs of the insurance industry. We will continue to be the voice of the insurance industry in Asia.”

Ms Sheela Suppiah, General Manager of Asia Insurance Review & Middle East Insurance Review said “We are incredibly excited to be joining such a prestigious media stable and we aim to continue to inform readers globally about the growth story of insurance and risk in Asia and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions – widely recognised as the growth engine of the sector today. Our tenacity, commitment and strong relationship with our clients remain a main priority, and we look forward to being able to now offer a greater and wider range of services to the industry.”

Middle East Insurance Review

Middle East Insurance Review (MEIR), launched some 15 years ago, is the number one industry publication on the ground servicing Middle East and North Africa and the broader African markets. It is the official media of the major industry events in the MENA region – such as General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF), Federation of Afro-Asian Insurers and Reinsurers (FAIR), and supporting media to the African Insurance Organisation (AIO) conference. MEIR is the only magazine with a dedicated section on takaful, gaining a pole position as the trusted source of reliable and up-to-date news on both the conventional and takaful fronts. With the celebrated Middle East Insurance Industry Awards (MIIA), MEIR is at the center of excellence in these key markets.
