Abu Dhabi/Boao Hainan, China: Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), the international financial centre in Abu Dhabi, is pleased to support and participate in the 2019 Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference which is currently taking place in Boao, Hainan Province, China, starting on 26 to 28 March 2019.  Reinforcing the strong economic ties and collaborations between the Chinese governmental entities and Abu Dhabi, ADGM has been invited to be part of this global dialogue that will shape the development, growth and future of Asian economies and cross-border collaborations.

Themed “Shared Future, Concerted Action, Common Development”, the 2019 BFA will welcome H.E Li Keqiang, the Premier of the People’s Republic of China, to deliver the keynote address at the Opening Ceremony on 28 March 2019.  President of China, H.E Xi Jinping was present at the 2018 BFA event.

ADGM, as an international financial centre and well-recognised financial services regulator, continues to actively play an integral role in fortifying the strong economic ties and enduring relationship between China and the United Arab Emirates through various initiatives and regulatory cooperation.

Sharing ADGM’s milestones and best practices, Mr Richard Teng, Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of ADGM,  joined fellow Chinese leaders at the panel discussion of “Free Trade Pilot Zone and Free Trade Port: China Practice and International Experience” today.  The panel deliberated on the deployment of free trade zones, across borders, to achieve greater mutually beneficial results and developments.

Mr Li Baodong, Secretary General of Boao Forum for Asia, highlighted that globalisation, free trade, investments, openness, regulations, FinTech, innovation are some of the strategic and prevalent subjects that significantly impact across all economies and jurisdictions. "The Boao Forum for Asia 2019 Annual Meeting will send a clear message to the world for a global governance consensus." Li Baodong said.

The BFA, fondly referred to as the “Asia Davos”, garners more than 2,000 international delegates including state leaders, senior Ministerial officials, C-suites of state-owned companies, global 500 enterprises, industry experts, acclaimed academia to one common platform. In addition, more than 1,400 media representatives of 186 institutions from 35 countries have arrived in Boao, Hainan, to be part of the making of another significant economic turnkey. 

The three-day annual meeting will see eminent leaders including Premier Li Keqiang, Mr Zhou Xiaochuan, President of the Chinese Finance Association, former President of the People's Bank of China, Mr Ban Ki-moon, Chairman, Boao Forum for Asia and 8th Secretary General, the United Nations, H.E. Giovanni TRIA, Minister of Economy and Finance, Italy, H.E, Abdulaziz Al-Jarbou, Chairman, SABIC, Mr Jin Liqun, President, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and many more.
