OPEC member Kuwait has set a deadline on September 1 for pre-qualified companies to bid for two large Jurassic gas projects at the Northern border, a local newspaper reported on Monday.
The state-owned Kuwait Oil Company
(KOC), the Gulf emirate’s upstream arm, has received approval for the deadline from the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT), the Arabic language daily Al-Rai said.
It quoted KOC sources as saying bidding firms have been asked to submit their “financial and technical” bids for the Jurassic gas projects “4” and “5” involving the construction of processing facilities and pipelines.
“CAPT has approved a KOC request to set September 1 as a deadline for those bids,” the paper said, adding the KOC has already pre-qualified a number of companies.
The Jurassic gas project in North Kuwait close to the border with Iraq would have a capacity of 100,000 bpd of light crude and 300 million cubic feet of free gas a day.
