Iraq and France discussed energy projects planned by the Ministry of Electricity, including the recent contract signed by France's TotalEnergies for the implementation of a solar energy project in Basra.
The projects were discussed during a meeting between the Acting Minister of Electricity Adel Karim and French Ambassador to Iraq Eric Chevalier.
In September, TotalEnergies had signed deals worth $27 billion for four energy projects in Iraq including the construction and operation of a 1 gigawatt-peak capacity photovoltaic power plant to supply electricity to Basra's grid.
The Iraqi minister stressed on expediting the project and its integration with the grid, and on the necessity of Ministry of Oil's participation in the agreement as it will bear the project costs.
