Chinese oil and gas giant Sinopec has been awarded a contract to develop Iraq's Mansouriya gas field, local news outlet Mawazin News said.

The report, quoting a Ministry of Oil statement, said Sinopec won the contract to develop the gas field located in Diyala province without disclosing additional details.

In October 2020, the Al-Monitor wnews website had reported that Iraq has invited fresh bids for the gas field after terminating in 2018 an earlier contract awarded to a group led by Turkey’s state-owned Turkiye Petrolleri, Kuwait Energy and the Korea Gas Corp.
