Manama, Bahrain :  Zain Bahrain, the leading Mobile Broadband network operator in the Kingdom, continues to invest in distinct initiatives that provide work exposure and empower Bahraini youth as part of its Zain Youth Empowerment (ZY) Program. The company aims to bridge the gap between education and future market requirements by supporting and educating students with the latest skills required to advance their career paths and contribute to the Kingdom’s future growth.

Zain Youth Empowerment (ZY) program was launched to provide Bahraini youth with practical learning skills, create a competitive future workforce, and raise their living standards through providing gainful employment. Zain Bahrain’s ZY team works tirelessly with various government entities, educational institutes and has collaborated with multiple training and development institutes in Bahrain to achieve its goals. The company believes that targeted investment in youth results in sustainable development outcomes and has additionally devised women empowerment programs with a vision to empower women to lead change. As part of the program, the company signed a cooperation agreement with the Bahrain Society for Training and Development (BSTD) to enroll 20 young Bahraini women and provide them with an opportunity to work at Zain Bahrain where the participants will receive hands-on experience along with an understanding of the workplace environment. By introducing such programs, Zain Bahrain aims to contribute towards the growth of the Kingdom of Bahrain, empower young women and provide them with equal opportunities in the workplace.

With a commitment to empowering a future-ready workforce in the Kingdom, Zain Bahrain contributes directly to Bahrain’s Vision 2030 and closely aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal, SDG8 to promote inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work opportunities for all. As part of its ‘Future Pioneers Program’ which is a part of ZY, the company is training 3 people with disabilities to join Zain. The company is committed to creating an inclusive culture where each person feels welcome, secure, and comfortable.

As part of ZY’s ongoing initiatives, Zain Bahrain has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ahlia University to assist young Bahrainis with practical training, scientific research, holding conferences and seminars, and highlighting voluntary work aspects through embracing expertise between both parties. It also collaborated with Bahrain Polytechnic to provide essential training for its students and assist them with their first job, apprenticeships, and traineeships in exchange for designing and establishing short training sessions for the ZY team. Furthermore, ZY representatives have participated as members of the judicial panel in Bahrain Youth Entrepreneurs (BYE) organized by the Al-Hekma International School (AHIS) business department where students presented business plans to the judicial panel. To create awareness about the ZY program, the team participated in various Career Fairs held at educational institutions in Bahrain where students were briefed on why they should be part of the program. The ZY team also participated in the ‘Intilaqa’ event organized by the Ministry of Education to fully prepare Bahraini students for job interviews by role-playing an interview with recruiters from different companies. The students are evaluated based on their dress code, communication skills, qualifications, experience, and attitude during the interview process. By participating in such events, Zain Bahrain caters to the overall development required by Bahraini youth to master the skills to secure a job.

Under ZY’s Generation Z Program, the company welcomed three new talents in the Business Planning & Analytics, Finance, and Human Resource departments and has closed a chapter with 6 ZY members who successfully graduated and six who have received opportunities based on the skills gained through the program. During the last three months of the program, the company provided Bahraini talents with accumulated training of 1848 hours. These initiatives and collaborations position Zain Bahrain as a socially responsible company and a driver of growth, reinforcing its commitment towards workforce readiness in Bahrain.

Commenting on the ZY initiatives, Mohamed Essa, Manager, Recruitment, Employee Relations and Youth Development at Zain Bahrain said, “The workforce development program is a prudent part of our development strategy as we continuously work to improve opportunities for Bahraini youth skill-building. Our ZY programs not only offer direct training but also focus on social and emotional learning, positive youth development, hands-on learning, real-world experiences, and mentoring to support skill development. We want to contribute actively towards Bahrain’s workforce development ecosystem which prepares youth for direct employment and addresses the widening skills gap.
