Muscat: Under its latest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Eshraqa, Khimji Ramdas’ Social Development Arm is all set to celebrate the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan with the distribution of 10,000 boxes of essential food items to underprivileged families across the nation. The boxes contained a number of basic foodstuffs for families, and included items such as rice, oil and sugar. The volunteer teams visited over 22 organisations, including Majlis Al Shura members, sports teams, volunteer groups, social funds, schools and social welfare committees to hand over Ramadan boxes that will aid the less fortunate and deserving members of the community all over the Sultanate. Every year Eshraqa partners with various social aid teams to distribute these essentials to ensure equal support for all.
Nailesh Khimji, Director Eshraqa, Khmji Ramdas said, “We are humbled by the way our longstanding tradition of engaging the community and enriching their lives has been appreciated by the community. Our annual Ramadan charity boxes contain basic food stuff meant for the underprivileged sections of our society. To ensure equitable support to as many as possible, Eshraqa partners with various social welfare organisations and volunteering teams before the holy Month to reach these essentials to people even in far-flung villages. Khimji Ramdas has been conducting this activity for a long time now, but it is only after Eshraqa, our CSR arm was set up 4 years back, that our process has become more streamlined and organised.”
He further elaborated, “The holy month of Ramadan is a perfect opportunity to get involved and experience the beauty of expansiveness. It is replete with all the principles of Eshraqa – providing an opportunity for each individual to live one’s innate nature of caring and sharing and of compassion, charity, and faith. Our initiatives are in tandem with the vision of invoking the true empathetic spirit of Ramadan and it remains crucial for us, as an organisation to give back to the community and raise awareness on the importance of giving and blessing others in the holy month.”
Eshraqa support team distributed the Ramadan boxes across 26 wilayats, including Muscat, Khaburah, Ibri, Saham, Suwaiq, Seeb, Buraimi, Nakhal, Rustaq and Fanja. 6,300 boxes were distributed to families in these areas. In addition, other voluntary associations and institutions, including Al Noor Association for the Blind, the Omani Association for the Disabled, Ihsaan Association, Sanobader Liajlekum, Takaful Social Fund, the Omani Association for the Hearing Impaired, and the Oman Charitable Organisation, distributed another 2,700 boxes. Khimji Ramdas employees themselves handed out over 1000 boxes.
Eshraqa, Khimji Ramdas conducts its annual iftar for over 1,000 Khimji Ramdas employees and their families along with the directors and senior management will gather in unison for its annual iftar as a part of the Corporate’s tradition to symbolize togetherness, unity, friendship and family. Through Sanobader Liajlekum charity Eshraqa volunteers will plan an Iftar for Royal Hospital Cancer Ward children, staff and their families. On the same occasion of Qaranqasho, Eshraqa special cups and T.Shirts will also be distributed.
Formed to champion the development of the community, Eshraqa aims to empower the society with initiatives that are at the forefront of sustainable development. These initiatives demonstrate Eshraqa’s commitment towards investment and support to projects that have a long-lasting impact on the growth of the nation with a wide range of activities including healthcare, education and social welfare.
