Dubai: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, announced that it has awarded contracts worth over AED 100 million to extend its cooling service pipeline network with a length of about 10 km to connect the various plants located in Dubai Production City.

Empower highlighted that the extension of its network is part of its strategy to develop its infrastructure using advanced technologies to achieve customer happiness and satisfaction.

The project consists of two network extensions to inter-connect 7 semi-permanent plants. Empower highlighted that the network, which serves Dubai Production City, will be completed by Q1 of 2020.

“At Empower, we are committed to developing our infrastructure and using the latest chillers technology at Dubai Production City, to maximize cooling and achieve the objectives of the Dubai Plan 2021, where infrastructure is one of its major pillars,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.

“As the years go by, Empower continues to develop its Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, contributing to the efficiency of the cooling sector and providing an easier experience for countries and companies looking to implement district cooling systems,” continued Bin Shafar.

“The plants are constructed as per international standards and targeting to achieve internationally recognised certifications for design, construction, and operation of environmentally friendly and high performance buildings,” noted Bin Shafar.

“Adopting district cooling solutions at Dubai Production City will achieve high levels of energy efficiency, and contribute to the region's efforts to reduce carbon emissions from energy consumption,” added Bin Shafar.

Empower provides district cooling services to more than 1,090 buildings, catering to more than 100,000 customers. The company operates more than 1.43 Million Refrigeration Tons (RT), providing environmentally friendly district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Bluewaters, Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, International Media Production Zone and others.
