Doha: Compass International School Doha announced its highest ever academic achievement results for its 2018/19 academic year, surpassing the global International Baccalaureate (IB) average by 8%. The benefits that Nord Anglia Education schools bring to students’ academic results was on display with students achieving an average score of 32 points.

The school and its student body were particularly thrilled upon learning that 2019 graduate Aisha Serpedin achieved 42 points out of a potential 45, placing her in the top 2% of International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)students globally. This is the level of attainment required to gain admission to the world's elite universities, such as Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard and Stanford.

Aisha is a legacy from the school’s Gharaffa Campus, having attended Years 2 to 4 before returning to the USA from 2010 to 2015. She ultimately returned to the Madinat Khalifa Campus from 2015 to 2019 for graduation. Ms Serpedin’s future continues at Weill Cornell Medical College - Qatar to study medicine.

Compass International School Doha’s Executive Principal Paul Holyome said: “Our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme continues to go from strength to strength, with our most recent graduates achieving exceptional results and our highest ever average score. We encourage every student to ‘Be Ambitious,’ with our recent IBDP results showcasing the impact of our ambition-based learning approach and our students’ hard work. On behalf of our Compass Community, I wish our graduates the very best for the future as they continue their education at top universities around the world.”

This year’s results build on Compass’ strong record of academic excellence and year-on-year improvements. In the 2017/18 academic year, Compass graduate Audrey Palosse achieved 40 points, placing her in the top 8% of IBDP students globally and in the 2016/17 academic year, Mujahid Khan achieve 41 points, placing him in the top 4% of IBDP students globally.

“Year after year, I am so proud of our Nord Anglia students who — through their dedication — achieve results that exceed global averages for the IB Diploma,” said Andy Puttock, Group Education Director, Nord Anglia Education.

“This year’s results are a powerful demonstration of the positive influencer world-leading teachers who go beyond traditional education have on inspiring students toward success,” he said. “I’m proud of what our IB-offering schools have achieved this academic year and wish our graduates more success in the future.”
