Abu Dhabi : The medical team at SEHA’s Al Rahba Hospital successfully performed a complicated surgery for a 70-year-old lady because of uterine prolapse which impacted her daily activities. The successful operation has led to the patient being able to go about everyday life with no disruption.

Dr. Iman Al Othmani, Chair of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Al Rahba Hospital, said “The hospital received a referral of a 70-year-old patient who was suffering from uterine and vaginal prolapse which made her unable to manage daily activities. Doctors at Al Rahba Hospital who examined her decided to conduct an operative repair for prolapse of the uterus, along with necessary procedures to prevent any recurrence, because the patient suffered from a similar prolapse in the rectum and the lower end of the intestine.”

“The patient was examined and images for study were taken because she was suffering from severe pain, chronic infections, and genital ulcers. The medical team decided to surgically intervene to lift up the vagina. Following the operation, the patient was placed in observation until she improved and resumed her normal activity without any pain or complications” Al Othmani added.

Data from Al Rahba Hospital, shows that the number of newborns in the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic until the third quarter of this year was 639, while the total number of visits to the clinic reached 9,774.
