The Ministry of External Affairs in India's Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC) for non-resident Indian (NRI) and PIO card holder students is open for the 2019-20 academic year.

The Consulate General of India in Dubai announced on its Twitter page on Wednesday, June 5, that application for scholarships are now open.

The SPDC scheme provides financial assistance for specific undergraduate courses in professional and non-professional courses, except medical sciences and related courses.

The scheme will pay up to 75 per cent of the education costs, including students' tuition fee, admission fee and post admission services. The scheme is applicable to NRIs and PIOs in 66 countries, including the UAE.

Launched in 2006-07 to make higher education in Indian universities in different fields more accessible, students are awarded scholarship of up to $4000 per year.

Students can apply for graduate courses in engineering, technology, humanities, liberal arts, commerce, management, journalism, hotel management, agriculture, animal husbandry and some other courses.
