The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has said Minister Amr Talaat decided to suspend all activities, events, conferences, training courses, and other activities of the ministry and its affiliated entities, including large gatherings, to protect them from the Coronavirus for a period of two weeks.

The ministry is affiliated with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority, the National Telecommunication Institute, the Information Technology Institute, the Information Technology Industry Development Authority, and Egypt Post.

The ministry stated that this decision is within the state’s precautionary measures against the Coronavirus, limiting the spread of the virus in order to protect the public health.

The ministry said that it provided infrared body temperature measurement devices to all workplaces in the ministry to conduct a daily check-up for all ministerial employees and visitors. This complements the precautions and preventive measures taken by the ministry to ensure the safety of workers while ensuring the continuity and efficiency of work. Initial preventative measures began with discontinuing the use of fingerprint signature devices as well as suspending all direct internal meetings and holding them via the internet. The ministry encourages its employees to work from home now that it provides the proper infrastructure to do so.

A number of measures have been taken to ensure the protection of workers to prevent the transmission of infection through sterilisation and periodic purification of all offices in the ministry.
