Cairo –  Egypt’s annual core inflation rate retreated to 4.9% in August, compared to 5.9% in July, according to data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) on Tuesday.

The monthly core inflation recorded a negative rate of 0.4% in August, compared to a positive rate of 0.1% in July and 0.6% in August 2018, the CBE added.

It is noteworthy that the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed that Egypt’s annual inflation declined to 6.7% in August, registering its lowest level since March 2013.
