Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia's Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdulrahman Al Fadli, has launched the Rural Sustainable Agricultural Development Programme (Reef), state-run Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The programme will support small agricultural producers, cooperative societies, and rural establishments as it enables them to get production resources and agricultural services and reach markets.

In addition, the national programme will contribute to the diversity of the agricultural production base and help achieve food security in the kingdom through securing 43% of the total food needs of populations in target areas and around 19% of needs of the kingdom.

The programme, moreover, aims to guarantee easy access to food, consumption of safe and healthy food, providing stable food supply, whilst increasing women participation rate in the labour market and preserving the environment and natural resources in tandem with the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030.
