ArabFinance: Henkel Egypt has inaugurated three plastic waste collection centers in Cairos Mansheyet Nasser area, in collaboration with Plastic Bank, according to a March 30th emailed press release.

The two entities aim to prevent disposal of plastic waste in the environment while making a long-term social impact for the local population.

Waste collectors receive a premium for the materials they collect which helps them provide basic family necessities, the statement noted.

Henkel Egypt was the first fast-moving consumer goods company to collaborate with Plastic Bank in 2017.

By positioning Egypt as one of the major players in the plastic waste management and exporting field, the state will be able to secure foreign currency while providing job opportunities, Vice President Africa and Marketing MEA and President Henkel Egypt, Ahmed Fahmy commented.

Henkel Egypt and Plastic Bank intend to spread environmental awareness, enhance economic empowerment, in addition to boosting women empowerment and inclusion.

Plastic Bank currently works with more than 170 global partners, and operates in Haiti, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Brazil.

Egypt recently witnessed the signing of strategic partnerships with seven of the leading companies working in the local market, to help with recycling single-use plastics.
