Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah has launched eight specialised clinics in the UAE and plans to open 11 more new Centres of Excellence as part of its expansion strategy. Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah is an internationally recognised 100-bed facility in the region created to diagnose and treat specific ailments that are common to the community.

The clinics were inaugurated in the presence of Khalifa Hassan Aldrai, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, and the hospital’s senior management. Lauding the Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah initiative, Aldrai said there was a need for focused treatments for common medical issues. "It is very impressive that Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah has taken the lead by conducting an independent survey to identify the most common ailments and needs. This will lead to the provision of targeted medical solutions, and we hope that other hospitals and clinics will follow suit," he stated.

According to a study by Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the number of outpatients visiting health facilities increased by 6 per cent between 2012 and 2017. This number is expected to grow by 2025, when the population is projected to exceed 4.2 million. Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah is expanding its facilities to support the increasing demand for healthcare and reduce the number of unnecessary visits to the Emergency Department.

Eight clinics will be fully operational starting this month, and each clinic will diagnose and treat a specific issue. Aldrai said Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah had been consistent in its efforts to enhance healthcare in the country. "It got a boost following the agreement of co-operation signed to help transfer patients to the nearest hospitals, provide immediate and superior services with best available methods of treatment and reduce the time it takes transferring patient to far places," he added.

In the Dubai Health Investment Guide 2019, DHA outlined its 2016-2021 strategy, which includes the implementation of Centres of Excellence in response to ‘the high demand for specialised and tertiary care for selected high prevalent diseases’. In support of this initiative and in response to the increasing number of patients with common medical concerns, Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah decided to create 19 Centres of Excellence.

Based on the findings of Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah’s survey, over 150,000 patients visited the facility till date to seek treatment for specific ailments including asthma, back pain, chest pain, joint pain, diabetes or high-risk pregnancy or for vaccinations or issues related to newborns and more.

Dr Maan Jamal, the medical director of Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah, said: "It is a great pleasure to launch our specialised clinics in line with Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah’s vision to provide our patients with preventive care."

"We are confident this is consistent with the community’s growing medical needs and that it will promote healthy living. Our hospital is equipped with diagnostic and therapeutic services required to address advanced medical conditions and offer a wide range of patient care," he added.
