Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s revenues from Suez Canal rose by $28.4 million or 6.1% year-on-year to $ 497.1 million in January from $468.7 million, Osama Rabea, head of Suez Canal Authority, revealed.

A total of 1,645 vessels crossed Suez Canal in January, up from EGP 1,516 in the same month a year earlier, Rabea added in a statement on Monday.

For the full-year 2019, revenues from Suez Canal grew by 1.3%, or $731 million, to reach $5.8 billion in 2019.

Nearly 8.3% of international trade, 25% of total containerised goods, and 100% of seaborne containers between Asia and Europe cross Suez Canal, he added.
