Cairo – Egypt’s Ministry of Education (MoE) has signed a cooperation protocol with the multinational information technology company (IBM) to establish the first IT school operating on the Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools model (P-TECH) system in Egypt.

The protocol is aimed at providing training opportunities for vocational education students to qualify them for meeting the needs of the local and international labour markets, according to Egypt Independent.

Students holding preparatory school certificates will study a variety of fields in the new school within five years including information security, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and industrial security, education minister Tarek Shawki stated.

The school will be located in Shorouk City, coordinator of the education reform project at the MoE’s Habiba Ezz announced.

IBM’s IT school will accept 60 students in its first batch after passing admission tests prepared by the MoE.
