Washington, United States: Hurricane Nicole made landfall in the US state of Florida early Thursday, the National Hurricane Center said in a statement.

"Nicole makes landfall along the east coast of Florida just south of Vero Beach," the US-based agency said in a short statement on Thursday at 0800 GMT.
