Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced on Wednesday that it has increased the cumulative generation capacity of its L-Station in Jebel Ali Power and Desalination Complex by 111 megawatts (MW) by combining Thermal Energy Storage and Turbine Inlet Air Cooling technology.

DEWA's TESTIAC [ Thermal Energy Storage and Turbine Inlet Air Chilling] Project was implemented in three Frame 9F Gas Turbines to increase their electricity generation capacity during high ambient temperatures in summer, according to a press statement issued by the DFM-listed utility.

The statement said the project has reduced the consumption of natural gas and eliminated more than 44,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

The project was awarded the Certified Emissions Reductions (CERs) credit from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
