Biggest Production Ever in Dubai Held Under The Patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan
Dubai, April 12, 2007: The world premiere of the latest Mansour Rahbani production, Zenobia, held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, President of the Executive Council of Dubai, is only 6 days away. Organized by Done Events, the biggest production ever to be staged in Dubai promises to be spectacular.
Zenobia was composed by legendary Lebanese composer Mansour Rahbani, and will run from April 18 to 23. Starring celebrities Carole Samaha, Antoine Kerbaje and Ghassan Saliba, the play will feature 130 cast members, several horses trained by the Dubai police, and numerous camels, all set in the historical cityscapes of Rome and Palmyra. The specially-designed venue, built in the desert near Dubai Studio City, measures 70, 000 square metres.
Abdullatif Al Sayegh, CEO of Arab Media Group, Done Events' parent company, said: "Zenobia represents another stage in Dubai's development as a regional cultural hub. Marwan Rahbani, Director of Zenobia, spoke of what audiences can expect at the historical epic musical play: "It is an honour to have a specially-constructed venue on which to premiere Zenobia. Since she is such an important hero to so many, the setting must be appropriately grand, and so we have built Rome and Palmyra in the desert. For two and a half hours, viewers will lose themselves in the past and see their history unfold. The music will be familiar, engaging the audience in a shared experience as they journey to events that took place thousands of years ago."
