The action plan will translate the organization's vision through five major initiatives that guarantee financial, management and technological support for the country's future leaders, and catalyze their role in the development process.
Tariq Baqer, Chairman of the UAE Chapter of Young Arab Leaders said: "The UAE Chapter is developing initiatives that will galvanize a predominately young population from across the Arab world to be facilitators of change, and lead development effort."
Mohammed Khammas, Vice Chairman of YAL-UAE said: "Our strategy is built upon developing initiatives that are driven by a set of concrete deliverables, which benefit the society at large. These components also add value on multiple platforms of social and economic needs, and positively impact the future of the Arab world."
Led by Mona Al Marri, CEO of Dubai Press Club, the Internship Initiative will provide hands on experience to students and young professionals in large scale organisations specifically short listed by YAL-UAE.
The Scholarship Initiative championed by Najla Al Awadhi, Director General of One TV will award scholarships to outstanding UAE students identified by YAL-UAE through a stringent evaluation process. Selected candidates will receive a fully paid scholarship programme of their choice in the American University in Dubai
The Entrepreneurship Initiative, championed by Shehab Gergash, will stimulate the process of funding Arab projects in the region.
Abu Dhabi based Mubadala Development Company spearheads the Power and Energy Initiative. Led by Sultan Al Jaber, it will offer top-quality on-the-job training programmes for meritorious university graduates in their first full-time employment in the Power and Energy sector.
The Networking Initiative championed by Salem Bin Dismal, CEO of Dubailand will facilitate knowledge exchange and professional development among Young Arab Leaders.
Mentorship Initiative encourages students and young professionals to interact with successful, high profile entrepreneurs, artists, athletes and political figures for the purpose of gaining enriching learning experiences and industry expertise.
The Walaa Initiative championed by Mohammed Khammas, CEO of Al Ahli group is divided into two projects. The first deals with creating a mechanism that clearly identifies what the job market needs. The second focuses on transforming that need into an educational programme for the creation of a skilled human capital to suit industry demands.
A number of key achievements grace the record of YAL-UAE including Alf Yad, a regional venture capital initiative consisting of 10 private equity funds that will be launched over 10 years, and raise AED 1 billion in private equity investments throughout the region.
To date, Alf Yad has been successful in funding youth projects and is currently in the last phase of creating the first equity fund, which will play a major role in supporting and speeding up the creation of other private equity funds.
