Independent SPEC tests give laurels to industry standard server from Fujitsu Siemens Computers in benchmarks for datacenter web servers

Dubai, UAE, July 9, 2008 - A new world record for web server performance has been established by a PRIMERGY server from Fujitsu Siemens Computers. Results published at the independent standards body SPEC, the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation, confirm that the PRIMERGY RX600 S4 scored a new all-time best result in the SPECweb2005 test, which simulates three different workloads for a busy web server.

The SPECweb2005 test measures machine performance as a web server, handling requests for static and dynamic page requests. Returning a SPECweb2005 score of 42,783, the RX600 established a new world record, beating the previous high score of 41,847.

A Quad-Core Intel Xeon MP rack server, the RX600 S4 is a sophisticated machine designed to deliver the heavy processing power required by servers powering databases and e-commerce systems. Its newly-introduced Quad-Core Intel Xeon MP 7300 series processor delivers industry-leading levels of performance at lower power consumption levels than the earlier-generation 7100 series model.

Boasting up to 128GB of memory, up to 8 146GB 2.5-inch hard drives, Gigabit Ethernet and hot-plug PCIe slots, the PRIMERGY RX600 S4 is a fully-featured enterprise web server, offering data center-typical robustness and redundancy features in a space-optimized 4U rack module.
